Senior SEM Specialist: Cedar Falls, IA

Create, manage, and execute paid search campaigns across multiple industries and search engines while maintaining a strong understanding of the clients' goals and expectations for their campaigns. Ensure customer satisfaction through regular and consistent communication with clients, account teams, and internal stakeholders. Mentor other SEM associates through example and knowledge sharing.

  • Create, manage, and execute paid search campaigns, including, but not limited to, account set up, strategy, and day to day management
  • Increase effectiveness of campaigns through monitoring and testing keywords, ad copy, and keyword bids
  • Advanced analysis of trends as well as qualitative and quantitative data to recommend campaign changes and updates to clients and account teams
  • Monitor paid search trends, best practices, and techniques to keep up to date on search marketing knowledge
  • Develop SEM strategy, roadmap and recommendations for SEO campaigns based on clients' objectives
  • Perform rigorous, regular campaign analysis & optimizations
  • Provide research and support for business development team
  • Develop estimates, budgets, and strategies for client campaign and new business opportunities
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly campaign reporting for clients and internal teams
  • Oversee the financial aspect of paid search – vendor invoices, client billing, and record management
  • Take lead in client and publisher meetings and training as necessary
  • Train and mentor SEM associates
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • 5 + years of experience in paid search campaign management
  • Certified in AdWords Fundamentals, Search Advertising, Shopping, and Google Analytics
  • College degree in business, marketing, or advertising or equivalent experience
  • Digital agency experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of paid search platforms including Google AdWords and Bing Ads
  • Advanced knowledge of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics or WebTrends
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, able to perform basic and advanced functions; pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, charts
  • Ability to independently identify and perform common paid search tasks such as keyword bid optimization, ad copy optimization, and landing page optimization
  • Experience with web content management platforms such as; WordPress, Drupal, and Ektron
  • Experience translating analytics data into meaningful results, using Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools
  • Strong quantitative and analytical experience, especially in search engine marketing
  • Thorough understanding of SEM, paid content platforms, Google's best practices, and industry trends
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with data reporting tools such as; Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Google AdWords, Google Trends and MOZ
  • Working knowledge of website programming and architecture
  • Ability to develop and execute long-term, "big-picture” level strategies
  • Strong attention to details and proactive follow-through skills
  • Ability to change strategies and adopt new techniques as the search space evolves
  • Team-player, self-driven and analytical
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders through email, written reports, presentations, etc.
  • Advanced ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and reports
  • Experience with organic search a plus, but not required
