Data Scientist: Hoffman Estates, IL

The charter of this company's data science team is to continuously and pro-actively add more intelligence the go-to-market functionality that they deliver to their customers. To achieve this, the data science team leverages deep expertise in data-driven science as well as acumen in business-to-business commerce. This data-driven science includes broad areas of mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research and computer science, in domains such as machine learning, cluster analysis, data mining, and mathematical programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers to uncover and articulate opportunities to improve the go-to-market
  • Generalize these opportunities into product modules that are valuable across multiple industries
  • Define reliable, controlled, automated analytic processes
  • Execute analytical work such as segmentation, forecasting, and mathematical programming
  • Conduct effective and efficient proof of concept and proof of value projects
  • Support the development, implementation and on-going use of analytic applications and models.

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative science, such as (but not limited to) mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research and computer science,either a Ph.D. degree or a minimum of four years of experience in the use of analytical techniques working with real data
  • Genuine interest in the business impact of the application of advanced analytics as well as a keen ability to work collaboratively across the organization, especially with Product Management, Operations and Development.
  • The position greatly benefits from experience with several of the following tools and skills:
  • Knowledge of go-to-market processes, marketing measurement and channels of distribution
  • Statistics, varying from surveys and sampling to design of experiments
  • Econometrics such as logistic regression and Bayesian techniques
  • Forecasting and time-series analysis
  • Mathematical programming, linear & integer programming, Dynamic programming and stochastic optimization
  • Simulation, for example discrete even modeling and agent-based modeling
  • Machine learning techniques, such as decision trees, clustering. And neural networks
  • Hands on programming skills with analytical packages such as R or Python, optimization packages such as Coin-OR, lpSolve, or Gurobi and general coding skills such as C and Java.  
  • Databases related skills, such as SQL, JSON, XML and big/distributed data such as Hadoop, HBase, and Hana
