Engineering Technician/ Engineer: Buffalo, NY

Seeking a motivated, experienced individual to support the design of innovative and unique electro-mechanical products, support manufacturing and help resolve customer issues for the expansion of the product line. These products are typically bench-top electro-mechanical instruments that are motorized controlled. 

The successful candidate will be supporting new product design, development, manufacturing and acceptance testing. The candidate will get hands-on experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving difficult electro-mechanical devices. The candidate will also maintain and improve standardization of processes, procedures and instructions.

Additionally, the successful candidate will work in a dynamic product development environment and will effectively interface with all levels of personnel. This position reports to either the Engineering Manager or a Senior Engineer.

Job Requirements:
Associates degree in an Engineering related discipline/ Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
At least three years of directly related experience in manufacturing environment
Knowledge of electro-mechanical machinery or instrumentation
General knowledge of electro-mechanical machinery or instrumentation:
Bills of Material (BOM) work & understanding of Assembly, subassembly, & component hierarchy
Assembly drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
Dimensional tolerance stack-up & Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
Understanding of machining (mill and lathe at a minimum, as well as how datum’s on 2D drawings carry over to machine setup fixtures)
Proficiency with Engineering Software tools:
SolidWorks (or other 3D modeling software) experience required
AutoCAD (or other 2D CAD) experience desired
Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, material specifications, statistical analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE) and basic quality tools.
U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person.

Generate detailed work instructions from their assembly experience
Ability to generate good test data, as well as potentially see sources of variation/root cause analysis
Experience quoting technical components and formulating plans forward
Ability to perform simple costing analyses (general understanding of overhead rates, as well as holistic picture of outsourced components
New innovative product development support
Research product requirements
Perform design trade-offs/ trade studies and Return On Investment (ROI) evaluations
Prepare and present design concepts, plans and test results
Develop detailed design drawings, (Top-level assembly, sub-assembly, schematics, wiring diagrams, details, cross-sections, etc.)
Build, test and validate prototype instruments
Generate costing Bills of Material (BOM) and Manufacturing Routers
Provide analysis, data and/or calculations supporting the product operation
Program software/ firmware of any control electronics in support of new products
Develop product acceptance tests and verification criteria for the new products
Build test fixtures for new products.

$55-60K salary + excellent benefits package to include 401K w/ match + small team bonus
