Senior Financial Analyst - Corporate Reporting: Buffalo, NY
Excellent growing company looking for a solid Financial Analyst to participate on a team that reports the financial results of a billion dollar multi-entity publicly traded company. Actively involved in analyzing the Company's financial results and reporting those results to stockholders, regulatory agencies, the Board of Directors and senior management. Involved in the review of work performed by junior staff members and is assigned significant and often complex tasks relating to financial accounting and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the preparation and review of financial statements for the company and subsidiaries, including the Annual Report to Stockholders, filing of Forms 10-K and 10-Q with the Securities and Exchange Commission, various regulatory filings (Call Reports, FRY9-C) and quarterly earnings releases. Prepare and review accurate financial reports summarizing results of operations and supported by workpapers or other evidential matter. Work independently on assignments requiring minimal supervision. Actively participate in the monthly closing of the general ledger, interpreting and analyzing financial information and presenting results directly to senior management. Perform diverse accounting functions, including the preparation and review of general ledger entries and account reconciliations. Improve existing processes and implement new processes related to financial reporting that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. Participate in and at times direct special projects relating to accounting and financial reporting for all levels of management. Research and interpret new accounting and/or regulatory guidance relative to the banking industry.The incumbent works under limited supervision with supervisory personnel providing occasional guidance, supervision and review of work performed. This position requires interaction with all levels of personnel throughout the organization in understanding the business factors effecting profitability and accounting for transactions impacting financial reporting, including interaction with senior management, internal and external auditors and regulatory agencies. Provides guidance to junior staff and performs review of work performed. Occasionally required to plan, assign and monitor various projects/tasks of junior staff members.
Qualifications:
Our client needs a Bachelor's degree or MBA in Accounting or the equivalent in work experience. MBA preferred. Minimum five years' accounting, audit or financial institution experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel essential. General knowledge of personal computers, including a working knowledge of Microsoft XP operating system. Strong working knowledge of Hyperion Enterprise financial reporting software and other bank-specific systems. Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, variations or other factors for further investigation. Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and the ability to research authoritative resources. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate a position to others, including senior management. Superior problem solving skills required to evaluate alternative solutions to issues and determine the most appropriate solution. Requires proven leadership skills, including motivating junior staff members. Requires attention to detail, including accurate proofreading. Compensation:
Salary range is $65,000 to $80,000 commensurate with education and experience. Bonus eligible opportunity.
