Senior Account Planner: Des Moines, IA
Our client, a global leader in promotions and retail marketing, is looking for a talented Relationship Marketing professional. Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Pricing, this position utilizes primary and secondary research/planning tools to uncover insights into the client’s business, marketplace, consumer and brand. These insights drive strategy, messaging and program development. Creates a strategic framework that enables near and long term application of data and insights. Actively gathers, shares, and applies new learning to the creative process. Develops productive relationships with clients and agency leaders.
Responsibilities:
Serve as strategic liaison with account teams and clients for annual planning, program development, and brand stewardship across all marketing components. Provide consumer perspectives and insights, including shopping and buying behavior, for individual projects. Influence/lead creative strategy with compelling and thoughtful application of these insights. Evaluate business problems and mine existing data and information to properly reframe marketing assignments. Effectively distill lots of information down to key insights; integrate these insights into agency process at appropriate time. Assess and interpret existing consumer understanding; identify needs and knowledge gaps. Evaluate needs of channel environments to ensure Agency is delivering comprehensive communication strategies; recommend primary research needed to gain deeper insights. Drive development and tracking of metrics to ensure continuous learning and evaluations that can be applied to future initiatives and support continuous learning. Maintain productive and regular communication with account and client teams. Develop and deliver credible, succinct, and energetic presentations, planning briefs, or alternative planning deliverables that can be easily understood and acted upon.
Bring new thinking and approaches to problem-solving and brainstorming (via case-studies, professional networking, personal exploration, planning/strategy models). Identify emerging techniques and/or methodologies for qualitative projects (shopper insights, purchase motivation, consumer behavior, trend tracking). Perpetuate an understanding and utilization of Account Planning within cross- disciplinary teams. Play leadership role in new business strategy and pitch development. On-going training and development of strategic thinking fundamentals across agency. Develop and socialize new planning tools, models and methodologies, especially those specific to retail environment. Development and refinement of inspiration tools including creative brief, brainstorming methodologies and research/trend resources.
Qualifications:
Include BS/BA degree and 5+ years of planning experience, preferably within agency environment. Qualitative research or ethnography experience. Solid grasp of research academics, design and methodologies. Able to distill data and findings into simple, relevant and actionable insights. Branding fundamentals, strong analytical skills and strong intuitive skills; with an inquisitive mind. Ability to recognize and develop creative ideas; inspire creative process. Excellent communication (written, verbal) and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; collaborative. Organized and detail-oriented with strong leadership skills. Bias for action and implementation. Travel required.
Compensation:
