Director of Communications & PR/Media Relations: NYC

This position will be responsible for creating and implementing the company’s first integrated corporate communications and marketing communications function – including internal communications, external communications and marketing communications materials. Public Relations and media relations will be a critical component to the Company’s integrated marketing program and provide exponential value to the company’s direct marketing campaign. This PR function could include News Releases, Surveys/Indexes, media tours with 3rd party spokesmen and media relations in conjunction with White Papers related to conferences and other special events. Marketing Communications would include the review and development of marketing collateral material (e.g. brochures, sales sheets, newsletters, Intranet content, etc.) and presentation decks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in the development of the corporate mission statement
• Develops, with the marketing department team, ways to present the corporate message through different media – both internally and externally (e.g. brochures, presentation decks, news media, etc.)
• Develops internal and external newsletters
• Directs development of corporate Intranet, including most appropriate ways to deliver corporate message and reviews site regularly to ensure that navigation is easy and information is presented clearly and that outdated information is removed.
• Facilitates speaking opportunities for corporation executives
• Directs company’s public relations program and acts spokesman for the corporation with the news media
• Manage external strategic partners (e.g.: public relations agency).
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 10 years of experience in corporate communications, marketing communications and public relations, including management of a comprehensive in-house corporate communications and marketing and communications program.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts of various teams to present a coherent message
• Financial Services industry experience preferred but not necessary
• Excellent verbal and written communication ability essential.
• Excellent organizational abilities, as well as ability to work well with both corporate management and with the larger community.
