Sr. Analyst/Modeler, Strategic Planning Group: Los Angeles OR Medford, Oregon
Our client, a multi-channel retailer, is looking for a Sr. Analyst/Modeler in their Strategic Planning Group.
This position is responsible for leading and/or supporting marketing-focused projects across the multiple brands within the company and channels of commerce (Retail stores, online, catalog, call centers). The individual must be a strategic thinker who can recognize opportunities in both retail and online markets and leverage those opportunities to increase enterprise profits. S/he is accountable for designing the analytical framework to test working hypothesis and insights, using SQL programming skills to extract the proper data from a variety of systems, developing data/analytical models, performing statistical analysis, making actionable recommendations and presenting findings. This position requires leadership skills, strategic thinking and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and deploy customer marketing & valuation models such as strategic segmentation, attrition, LTV, response, offer optimization & product purchase models
• Develop and create unique data structures to address complex longitudinal behavioral hypotheses across product categories, purchase channel and marketing efforts
• Conduct complex database research projects, simulations and advanced data mining on large transactional databases
• Summarize & synthesize complex customer behavior into business recommendations
• Make strategic and tactical marketing & customer-focused recommendations and provide analysis that improves profitability.
• Develop recommendations, strategies, tactics, and future testing based on analyses
• Analyze, interpret and optimize campaign performance including accurate circulation, promotion analyses, new models or segmentation strategies
• Support organizational learning around the drivers of response, incremental spend and customer lifetime value
• Develop powerpoint presentations to communicate and align on key findings and recommendations and communicate timely results and recommendations to management
Requirements:
• 3+ years experience using SAS/SPSS for longitudinal behavior analyses in a direct to consumer or marketing environment
• Advanced technical skills
• Proficiency in the development and application of customer marketing & valuation models such as strategic segmentation, attrition, LTV, response, offer optimization & product purchase models. Experience outside the Retail industry is welcomed.
• Marketing (including direct/database marketing) and campaign performance background
• Well-defined problem identification/solution skills related to business applications
• Ability to leverage traditional direct to consumer/retail KPIs and develop new metrics to measure and monitor changes in customer behavior
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment; self-starter with ability to support multiple work streams to meet deadlines.
• Ability to make statistical inferences & analytical curiosity
• Understanding of RFM, list selection criteria, file scoring and segmentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written & oral. Ability to analyze and synthesize financial data and research into clear, concise presentations for internal senior leaders.
• BS/BA Degree
• Computing Skills: SQL, SAS, MS Access, Advanced Excel skills (particularly with business modeling and analytics), PowerPoint
