Business Development Manager: Buffalo, NY

My client, a large, international, Buffalo based company seeks a Business Development Manager. In this role, you will proactively develop new, on trend platforms and business opportunities which have the potential to drive growth and profitability across multiple divisions of the company.
You will provide vision for new concepts along with their fit and alignment with corporate and divisional strategy. Works in conjunction with divisions to seamlessly integrate new platforms into business plans and launch cycles
Proactively identify innovative, new platforms and business opportunities based on timely customer and consumer unmet & unarticulated needs. Drive these concepts through to hand-off to core marketing or through to launch based on timing, resources and structure at that time.
Developing and in depth knowledge of the target divisions customers and consumer, use various sources of research to understand the customers and their consumers unarticulated and unmet needs. These sources can be gained from Business Intelligence, Voice of Customer Ethnography, Sales, Culinary, secondary & primary research as well as others.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of target categories asset base, current technologies and technology trend as it relates to these categories and leverage this knowledge into the accelerated development of new platforms and opportunities.
Develop a deep understanding of the competitive set as it relates to core category work and leverage this to develop sustainable points of difference which meet customer needs.
Aide in the development and execution of key divisional initiatives
Use the in-depth customer knowledge to be the champion of the 'voice of the customer' internally.
Recommend marketplace and customer specific design & development where appropriate
Seek to develop as much profitable innovation as it relates to Intellectual Property
Regular interaction with senior management as it relates to championing of new platforms and business opportunities
Works cross functionally with support network including; R&D, packaging, business intelligence, operations and core marketing
Drive new concepts through to core marketing or launch depending on divisional resources and executive leadership direction
Contribute to the development of divisional marketing strategies where appropriate
REQUIREMENTS:
-Bachelors degree in marketing or related field - MBA preferred
-5+ yrs of experience in the food industry or related industry with at least 3 years focused on New Product or Platform Development
-Proven track record of successfully leading cross functional new product and/or platform teams
-Some B2B and Consumer market research experience preferred
-Demonstrated project management/leadership skills
-Demonstrated outstanding influencing skills
-Demonstrated financial skills to include P&L analysis and other analyses
-Solid communication skills to include verbal and written capabilities; strong presentation ability
-Some familiarity with intellectual property preferred
-Strong PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
