Assistant Corporate Counsel / Practice Manager: Buffalo
Our client, a national healthcare organization seeks a highly motivated self-starter to work in a role of Assistant Corporate Counsel half the time and the other half working in a business role as a Practice Manager.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
• Must be admitted to the NY State Bar
• MS or JD
• Minimum of three to five years of combined experience in healthcare management as well as practical legal experience. Legal experience should consist of corporate, contract, intellectual property and employment law.
• Extensive experience in healthcare industry law and previous exposure to medical industry regulations is highly beneficial.
• Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills, detail-oriented and proactive.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong budgetary skills with the ability to monitor budgets, analyze financial reports and work with outside resources.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with Senior Level Executives as well as all levels of management, co-workers, business partners and vendors.
• Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to work non-standard hours and overtime as needed in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with limited supervision.
• Overnight travel is required with varied frequency.
Assistant Corporate Counsel Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for aiding General Counsel with a wide array of legal functions for healthcare organization with a focus on healthcare, corporate, contract, labor and employment law as well as compliance and litigation.
• Represent the organization in actions before federal and state agencies and courts.
• Work with General Counsel to provide legal advice on behalf of the organization and its member companies on the legal and regulatory issues deriving from the business, planning, patient care, labor relations, and various other affairs of the organization.
• Work with General Counsel to develop practitioner agreements and complete contract negotiations.
Practice Manager Key Responsibilities:
• Provide primary leadership and oversight for the management of all aspects of hospital contracts, including Human Resources, scheduling, chart management, provider credentialing, negotiation and financial responsibilities.
• Manage the hospital relationship (CEO, CMO, CNO, Quality, ED Nurse Manager & Business Office).
• Work in collaboration with the Medical Director to manage the emergency room to achieve the goals and expectations established by the hospital.
• In collaboration with Medical Director and Hospital Leadership, work on initiatives to improve clinical and operational performance.
• Monitor and participate in compliance & risk management programs.
• Oversee all aspects of daily clinical and business operations of the practice; ensure corporate policies and procedures are implemented and objectives are met.
Compensation:
Salary in the $65,000 to $85,000 range commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package offered.
